Home Workout Plan UK: No-Nonsense Guide For 2026
Most 'home workout plan' results online are either bodyweight-only routines that stop working in week four, or generic PDFs that ignore your actual kit. This is a real, progressive home workout plan written for UK users who want visible results in 12 weeks.
What kit you actually need
- Adjustable dumbbells (£150–£250) - covers 90% of what you need
- A bench or sturdy ottoman - useful but optional
- Resistance bands (£15–£30) - great for warm-ups and accessories
- Floor space roughly 2m x 2m - that's it
The weekly structure
Monday, Wednesday and Friday: full-body strength, around 40 minutes each. Tuesday and Thursday: 8,000–10,000 steps, optional 20-minute walk or short cycle. Saturday: active recovery or a longer walk. Sunday: rest.
That's the whole template. Three strength sessions hit every muscle twice a week, which is the proven sweet spot for building muscle and strength as a beginner or intermediate.
A sample full-body session
- Goblet squat - 3 x 8–12
- Dumbbell Romanian deadlift - 3 x 8–12
- Dumbbell bench or floor press - 3 x 8–12
- One-arm dumbbell row - 3 x 8–12 each side
- Dumbbell shoulder press - 2 x 10–15
- Plank - 2 x 30–60s
How to progress without a gym
- Add a little weight whenever you hit the top of the rep range with good form
- If you can't add weight, add a rep or a set
- Improve range of motion before you chase numbers
- Track every session - without a log, progression dies in week four
Why most home workout plans fail
They're static. The same workout repeated forever stops working in 4–6 weeks because your body has adapted. The fix is progressive overload - and a system that tracks what you did last week and tells you what to do this week. That's exactly what A90 handles for you, around whatever kit you actually own.

FAQ
Can you build a good physique with just dumbbells at home?
Yes. Adjustable dumbbells cover every major movement pattern - squat, hinge, push, pull - and provide enough resistance for most non-competitive lifters to build a strong, lean physique in 12+ months of consistent training.
How often should I work out at home?
Three full-body strength sessions a week is the sweet spot for most home trainers. More isn't better if it costs you consistency or recovery. Add daily walking (8,000–10,000 steps) to make a serious dent in body composition.
Do I need a personal trainer to train at home?
No. A well-programmed app replaces most of what a beginner trainer offers. A90 builds the plan, picks the exercises for your kit, progresses you weekly and reshuffles when you miss a session.
Is a home workout enough to lose weight in the UK?
Absolutely. Weight loss is mostly nutrition. A home strength plan plus 8,000+ daily steps and a moderate calorie deficit will drop body fat consistently - no gym membership required.
